Permit needed to receive your certificate – You can register and start the Class D, 24-Hour Driver Education Course without a TIPIC/Learner's Permit. However, we must have your valid permit number and a clear photo of the permit on file before you finish, or your Completion Certificate cannot be issued.
If you don't have your permit yet – On the Registration Page, enter AB123456 in the Learner Permit # field. At first login, you'll be prompted to upload a permit image; you may upload a temporary image to continue.
Once you receive your TIPIC – Email us a clear photo of your Learner's Permit so we can update your student record with the correct number and details.
Why do we require this – Certificates are issued through a state system connected to the Ohio DPS/Ohio BMV. If the information in your account does not exactly match your permit, the certificate cannot be submitted/issued.

Ohio law limits online study to a maximum of 4 hours per day.
Ohio law sets specific time limits and course completion requirements for the Class D, 24-Hour Online Driver Education Course. All online driver training providers must follow these state-mandated rules:
- Maximum 4 hours (240 minutes) per day of online study
- Mandatory break after 2 hours (120 minutes) of continuous study (auto logout enforced)
- Auto-logout after 15 minutes of inactivity
- 180-day (6-month) deadline to finish the full course from the day you begin
- Minimum Course Time Requirement: 24 hours
Course Time vs Login Time -
Course Time is the only time that counts toward Ohio's required 24 hours of Online Driver Education. Course Time includes actively completing pages, quizzes, videos, and activities.
Login Time is any time you are logged in but not working. Being logged in without completing coursework does not count toward the 24-hour requirement.
No. Reaching the 24-hour Course Time requirement does not mean the course is complete. To officially finish the Ohio Class D, 24-Hour Online Driver Education Course, you must:
- Complete every module and page in order,
- Pass all quizzes and tests with 75% or higher, and
- Take and pass the Final Exam.
The Final Exam becomes available only after you complete the full course.
Meeting the time requirement alone is not enough to receive your Completion Certificate.
If you're still short on Course Time when you reach the Final Exam, you'll need to review the course material until you reach 24 hours.
Click the book icon at the top of your student portal, then select a Module (and pages) you'd like to review. You can re-read pages, review modules, and re-watch videos to build the remaining time.
Important: Even if you have completed all Modules, the Final Exam will remain locked until you have met the minimum 24-hour Course Time requirement. Once your Course Time reaches 24 hours, the Final Exam will unlock, and you can proceed.
Important Reminder about Course Time: Being logged in without completing work does NOT increase your Course Time. Course Time only counts when you are actively participating, such as reading course pages or watching videos.
Video Questions: If answered incorrectly, the video must be re-watched before you may continue.
Module Quizzes & Tests: Each Module ends with a Test, and a minimum passing score of 75% is required to move forward.
If a Quiz/Test score is below 75%:
- The incorrect questions must be reviewed before retesting.
- The Quiz/Test may be retaken as many times as needed until a passing score is achieved.
Final Exam: The course concludes with a 50-question multiple-choice Final Exam, which also requires a minimum passing score of 75%.
- You have three (3) attempts to pass the Final Exam.
- The Final Exam may be attempted only once per calendar day.
- If all 3 attempts are unsuccessful, the entire course must be repeated, and a reinstatement fee will apply.
Once you successfully pass the Final Exam, we will receive your completion confirmation.
Our certified Ohio Instructor will then issue your Official Completion Certificate, which will be emailed to the Student and Parent Email Address on file.
You will need the 24-Hour Completion Certificate to schedule your 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a licensed instructor.
Please note that we are the Online Course Provider only. You must contact the driving school of your choice directly to arrange your behind-the-wheel training sessions.
Completion Certificates are verified and issued by a person – they are not automated. Our instructor will issue the Completion Certificate within 3 business days (Monday to Friday) after course completion.
No. This course fulfills the 24-hour classroom requirement only. You must still complete the remaining requirements.
It remains valid until you turn 21.
If you are 21 or older and your certificate is more than 12 months old, the BMV requires an Abbreviated Adult Course before retesting.
No. Only teens under age 18 are part of Ohio's Graduated Driver Licensing program. The six-month rule does not apply to ages 18–20.
Given that we, Costech Technologies Inc., are solely an Online Driver's Education Course provider, you would need to contact the physical driving school where you would like to take your lessons. We can assist with any questions concerning the online course; however, we do not provide Behind-the-Wheel instruction.

- Compatible with all devices with screens over 1000 pixels, including laptops, desktops, and Chromebooks.
- Most of your 24 hours of Course Time is earned by reading the course content. If you skip pages, rush through, or don't fully read the material, you will likely be short on time, and the Final Exam will remain locked. The program tracks and logs your time on each page, so take your time—this isn't a race. You must meet the required minimum of 24 hours of COURSE TIME to access the Final Exam.
- Use the prompts at the end of the topic pages to access the Quizzes and Tests.
